Killing Babies – The Walking Dead
Yes, I’m hooked to the Walking Dead– I admit it. A guilty pleasure I am compelled to explain as fixation on what people are willing to do to survive in the most unimaginable circumstances.
What also strikes me about the show is the apocalyptic scenes of abandoned cities, empty streets, and near extinction of our race.
This morning I was struck by a scene that looked like something out of the new series Fear the Walking Dead. A full sized yellow school bus empty besides the driver pulling up and stopping at a stop where no children waited. I stood transfixed ignoring my own child for a moment reflecting on grainy playbacks of my childhood when buses were jammed to capacity and children walked to school in large groups. Now, with bus stops with one, none, or maybe a handful of children I wondered where the children had gone.
Then, it struck me. 1971 – Roe V Wade.
We are eliminating our future in the most obvious, callous, and brutal fashion with hardly a concern or debate expressed by the “leaders” of our country. We all bow to the infamous legal decision as if the hand of God had come down and physically struck us with the finality of the decision.
What has happened to our culture and psyche that we, our populace, can so meekly follow a policy that is adverse to every tradition we hold dear?
Our country was founded upon principles like this:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.
HOW DOES THAT JIVE WITH THIS STATISTIC????
Killing Babies – 57 million unborn Americans destroyed since Roe V Wade.
Weren’t these 57 million lives endowed with the unalienable right to Life??
Trends from census data prove this number out where in 1971 children represented 34% of the population and has declined every year since to where the number is at 22.9% today. Quick math shows 11% difference equals 33 million variance in that number which is likely being offset from the 57 million by immigration.
This is not right- lawyers, judges, courts and governments are not the final arbitrators of what we should do and what we should accept. Where would we be if we accepted King George’s onerous rules?
We are Americans, the proponents of Liberty, the believers in rights for every being and we CANNOT deprive LIFE from anyone to suit our own personal preferences.
Jefferson, the same author of the famous quote above again spoke about this topic but specific to one of his own sins:
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. Establish the law for educating the common people. This it is the business of the state to effect and on a general plan.”
Many cite this quote when considering the devastation wrought upon our country during the Civil War.
Killing Babies – Apply it to today:
There can nothing more certainly written in the book of fate than that the killing of unborn children will be stopped.
What justice do we face in our own future from this current deprivation of inalienable rights for the unborn? The only questions that truly remain are when it will be stopped and at what cost to our country for leading the world in adopting this horrendous and barbaric practice.
